Aubrey Edwards is one of AEW’s most popular officials. She is the promotion’s only female referee and has been with the company since its inception. Edwards was recently dragged for not thinking about safety of wrestlers in her matches.
Former WWE referee Scott Armstrong has criticized the AEW official for her performance during the main event of Rampage this past Friday. The main event of the latest Rampage episode was a street fight. Anna Jay and Tay Melo of the Jericho Appreciation Society teamed up to take on Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale.
Ruby Soho was busted open on her head earlier in the match. She started bleeding profusely, forming a crimson mask in the process. The bleeding worsened as the match progressed, and Ruby Soho was covered by the time it was over.
Despite being beaten and bruised, the former WWE Superstar won for her team by hitting the Destination Unknown finisher on Tay Melo. Former WWE official Scott Armstrong took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction with the match. Being a referee himself, he was perplexed that Aubrey Edwards did not check on Ruby Soho while she was bleeding on the mat.
Ok…I have to ask, why is the Ref not checking on the human being bleeding on the mat? #RubySoho
Willow Nightingale is set to face former women’s champion Toni Storm on the upcoming episode of Dynamite after the successful match at Rampage. We’ll have to see what’s next for Ruby Soho, but she has some serious momentum after Rampage. You can check out the tweet below. Keep an eye on Ringside News for more.
