Vince McMahon’s return to the WWE, after a brief exodus, has opened a Pandora’s box of rumors. One of the biggest rumors that have been doing the rounds is the company’s imminent sale. Since the rumors first emerged, there has been plenty of speculation regarding who could purchase the company from Vince.
Two common names have been doing the rounds, Disney and Comcast, with the latter being the more likely buyer given its long-standing relationship with the WWE. There has also been conjecture as to why Vince is considering selling the company to a buyer like Saudi Arabia, with many people suggesting that this may be the only way for Vince McMahon to regain creative control of the company.
Fightful reached out to anonymous contacts within Disney and Comcast regarding the possibility of a sale. While the two contacts clearly heard the rumors, they also stated that no major company would want to retain Vince McMahon’s services in any capacity.
“Fightful has reached out to contacts within Disney and Comcast, who spoke on the condition of anonymity about the possibility of a sale. Both companies had employees who had clearly heard of the rumors, and said that it would be hard to believe that any major company would want to retain Vince McMahon’s services in any capacity if they could help it.”
If Vince’s plan was to regain creative control and remain in power, it looks like he may end up disappointed. It will be interesting to see what unfolds in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we stay on this story.
