Shane McMahon made his return to WWE television after a long hiatus during last year’s edition of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. His performance in the match was not necessarily anything to write home about and it turned out to be highly controversial instead. He was more or less ousted from the company after that. That being said, McMahon still has a role in WWE, especially after his father Vince McMahon came back.
Shane McMahon had a substantial amount of heat on himself for taking over the men’s Royal Rumble match booking. This is because many people felt that McMahon simply went into business for himself.
Ringside News exclusively reported at the time that Shane McMahon was removed from the Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania. It is important to note that he was never “fired,” because Shane was never an employee of the company. After that, creative plans for Shane McMahon changed due to all that heat.
Vince McMahon was frustrated over Vince shooting down his Royal Rumble changes. Following the incident, Shane McMahon was never seen on WWE television. Vince McMahon returned to WWE last week and he became the Executive Chairman of WWE once again.
In the company’s latest SEC Filing, the company disclosed that Shane was retained by the company as an independent contractor with a salary of $828,000 in 2022.
Shane B. McMahon is the son of Mr. McMahon. In 2022, Shane McMahon was retained as an independent contractor performer by the Company and received an aggregate of approximately $828,000 in connection with such services.
It is unlikely Shane McMahon will be seen on WWE television anytime soon after what transpired last year. Regardless, Shane McMahon has a lot of things he can do outside of WWE and that’s all that matters to him.
