Sasha Banks became one of the hottest topics of discussion last year after she walked out on Monday Night RAW. This led to a lot of discussions as to where Banks would end up next. AEW and NJPW were both valid avenues for her next pro wrestling step, and that’s exactly what happened as Banks debuted in NJPW this past week as Mercedes Mone. However, she didn’t get a proper reaction from fans, and it seems there was a good reason for that.

Sasha Banks made her shocking debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17, where she debuted as ‘The CEO’ Mercedes Mone. She came out after KAIRI’s successful title defense against Tam Nakano.

However, Mone did not get the expected reaction from fans in attendance. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, fans did not have a big reaction as they simply weren’t acquainted with female WWE Superstars due to the lack of WWE television in Japan.

After Kairi beat Nakano in a short match to retain the title, she came out. The reaction wasn’t big. Those there live in attendance said that most fans did not know who she was, since WWE has had no television in Japan for a long time.

Paul Wight also believes Mercedes Mone would be a tremendous asset to AEW. There is also the belief that Mercedes Mone will be following in Brock Lesnar’s footsteps after her NJPW debut. We’ll have to see how Mone will fare in NJPW in the coming months.
