Charlotte Flair defended her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at WWE WrestleMania Backlash back in May last year in an ‘I Quit’ match. Flair would end up dropping the title to Rousey, much to the joy of fans all over the world. Flair would then be absent from WWE television for several months, until last week on Smackdown. It seems Flair was off WWE television for a good reason.

As seen on the previous episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Ronda Rousey lost the Smackdown Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair, which turned out to be a very unexpected result. Naturally, The Queen’s return was met with a lot of backlash yet again.

While speaking on After The Bell with Corey Graves, WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair talked about Charlotte Flair’s return to WWE television. Ric Flair revealed that his daughter took time off to get dental surgery and spend a lot of time with her husband Andrade El Idolo.

“I’m so happy for her, and they’re very, very happy, and you know what happened? It happened at a time where she could take a break, where they didn’t get married and then go back to work. The arm thing with Ronda and she got hit in the mouth in that same match and had a major issue with her teeth, which are from all the years of cheerleading, wrestling, and whatever else, but it was a well deserved rest. I mean, sometimes it’s good to walk away from it. There’s certainly no loss of respect losing to Ronda Rousey. I mean, I thought they had a hell of a match and it was a good opportunity for her to get away. She and Manny (Andrade) had an opportunity to spend a lot of time together. They bought a new home. I mean, it’s really been good for them, but at the same time, I know how bad she wanted to get back into it. After a while, all that gets old and now I want back in.”

With her win, Charlotte Flair became a 14-time Women’s Champion. In fact, Flair now wants to surpass her father’s record of World Title reigns. We’ll have to see how Flair will be booked as the champion in the coming months.
