Several months ago, the wrestling world was shocked to learn that Vince McMahon announced his retirement from the WWE amid sexual assault allegations. The news came as such a shock because nobody expected Vince to ever step down as Chairman.
However, just a few months after retiring, reports started emerging that Vince McMahon was looking to return to the company. Moreover, these reports were claiming that the former Chairman was returning to sell the company. The rumors even pushed the company’s stock price higher by 12 percent.
Many fans started questioning if this is even possible considering he is retired. Well, despite being retired, Mr. McMahon still holds about 37.6 percent of WWE’s total shares. This means he owns 28.7 million shares of the company’s total stock.
Moreover, according to multiple sources, Vince has 83 percent voting power when it comes to WWE’s internal matters. This means that he has majority voting power when it concerns decisions regarding the company.
While the board of directors seems to be open to the idea of Vince McMahon returning to the company, we will have to wait and see how this will impact the talent’s morale, which was at an all-time high under Triple H. Only time will tell how this pans out, but 2023 just started.
