John Laurinaitis is known as one of the most creatively sound backstage executives that have worked for WWE. Despite not excelling in the ring, he gained success as a guy in the top management. However, Big Johnny’s first appearance outside WWE has reportedly been canceled.
Big Johnny Ace was supposed to make an appearance at Wrestlecon over WrestleMania 39 weekend, brought in by Bobby Fulton’s Big Time Collectibles. However, Fulton announced on Twitter 24 hours later that John Laurinaitis’ appearance has been canceled due to negative feedback on the initial announcement was made.
“Yesterday we announced John Laurinaitis would be doing an appearance with Big Time Collectibles. Upon announcement we received only negative feedback. After much consideration we have decided to not work with him. We apologize to those that were offended by us working with him.”
John Laurinaitis started his wrestling career as an in-ring competitor in 1986 under the ring name “Johnny Ace.” He competed until 2000 when he decided to retire from the ring and transitioned to backstage roles. He served as the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations for WWE for a long tenure.
John Laurinaitis was let go by WWE in August 2022 and replaced by Bruce Prichard, ending his 21-year-long tenure with the company.
