Sasha Banks and Naomi were in the middle of their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship reign when they decide to walk out on the company last year. WWE retaliated by stripping them of their titles and suspending them indefinitely. The Boss finally became a free agent on New Year’s Eve.
Sasha Banks took to Twitter ahead of her scheduled appearance at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 pay-per-view event to thank WWE, Vince McMahon and others, implying she may be done with her longtime home promotion.
Her fans responding by creating the hashtags “Thank You Sasha” and “Thank You Sasha Banks” on Twitter. The real-life Mercedes Varnado is one of the most popular performers in the world of pro wrestling today, and will undoubtedly create success wherever she goes next.
Sasha Banks’ deal with NJPW caught some people in WWE off-guard despite the fact that The Boss and Japan’s top promotion reached an understanding in November 2022. We’ll have to see how Banks will fare in NJPW, as Wrestle Kingdom 17 is just a few hours away.
