Batista is one of many former WWE superstars who successfully utilized their popularity to transition into a career in Hollywood. Now that he’s established himself as a successful actor, the WWE Hall of Famer recalls the advice he got when he was breaking into acting.
In an interview with GQ, Batista revealed that prior to his departure from the wrestling business, WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin strongly advised him to stay away from terrible yet lucrative roles. Disclosing the reason why he is so ‘picky and choosy with roles, Batista had this to say.
“Before I left WWE, Stone Cold Steve Austin pulled me aside and said, ‘You’re going to get offers for horrible scripts. The money will be tempting. Don’t get caught in that trap.’”
Batista put wrestling behind him in 2019, competing in his last match at WrestleMania 35 against Triple H. In the subsequent year, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event was postponed to 2021 and the Class of 2020 was inducted alongside the Class of 2021.
Most recently, Batista appeared in Glass Onion, the sequel to 2019’s Knives Out. He took on the role of Duke, a former video game streamer turned men’s rights activist on Twitch and YouTube. The WWE Hall of Famer was also present backstage on 2022’s final SmackDown.
