Karl Anderson returned to WWE along with Luke Gallows and that stirred a new debate regarding his NJPW commitments including his scheduled Never Openweight Championship defenses. Tonight, the Machine Gun finally lost the title.

Karl Anderson put his Never Openweight Championship on the line against former Bullet Club brother Tama Tonga at the Wrestle Kingdom 17 pay-per-view event inside the Tokyo Dome.

After a hard-hitting contest, Tama Tonga finally took down Anderson with a gun stun. Tama celebrated the win with Jado by his side. The Machine Gun left the ring with a look of disbelief in his eyes.

It was previously reported that Anderson planned a way for him to work NJPW Wrestle Kingdom from the point he signed with WWE and was thankful to the company for making it happen.
