CM Punk undoubtedly remains AEW’s biggest signing to date. The Second City Saint joined Tony Khan’s promotion in 2021 and captured the AEW World Championship in 2022. However, Punk was stripped of the title in the wake of his involvement in a brawl at All Out. He was removed from AEW television as well.
As of this writing, Punk’s status with AEW is unclear. The Chicago native was one of the top stars during his time as an active competitor. Moreover, Punk was part of the some of the most critically acclaimed segments in the company’s nearly four-year-old history.
Punk recently took to his Instagram Stories and touted his success with the promotion in 2022. The former AEW World Champion posted multiple snapshots with two showcasing his involvement in AEW’s two most watched video on YouTube from 2022.
The 44-year-old touted the success of his toy figures on Ringside Collectibles as well. The new post appears to be a shade towards AEW. For those wondering, Punk’s last appearance for the promotion transpired at All Out on September 4, 2022.
CM Punk’s latest IG Stories come days after it was reported Chris Jericho had told AEW locker room he would make sure to prevent the return of his former rival to the Jacksonville-based promotion. It remains to be seen if Punk will make it back to AEW.
