AEW President Tony Khan always had a vision in mind when it comes to his company’s overall growth – which includes working with other promotions. AEW has a solid relationship with NJPW and has worked with them numerous times over the past couple of years. That being said, WWE also has a working relationship with NJPW due to Karl Anderson. It seems Tony Khan had plenty of questions regarding WWE and NJPW’s working relationship.
Karl Anderson returned to WWE to re-form The O.C. alongside Luke Gallows and AJ Styles on Monday Night RAW, but still had loose ends on his part when it came to his obligations to New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Following a tumultuous couple of months, Anderson finally wrestled as the NEVER Openweight Champion on December 14th last year, whilst still working in WWE. While speaking to Fightful Select, Rocky Romero noted that he frequently speaks with Tony Khan.
Romero revealed that Tony Khan ‘isn’t shy’ about asking questions, but understood why it was all happening and is okay with WWE and NJPW’s working relationship. As for Anderson, he will be defending his title against Tama Tonga at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4th. We’ll have to see who will end up winning the match.
