The road to WrestleMania is closer today than it was yesterday, with the Royal Rumble just around the corner. The winner of the Royal Rumble will get to take on Roman Reigns and attempt to end his record-breaking Undisputed WWE Universal Championship reign. While there are a lot of contenders for the role, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has his bets on a certain 2nd generation WWE Superstar.

On a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer weighed in on why Cody Rhodes would be the one to come out on top in the upcoming 30-man Royal Rumble. He cited Rhodes’ accolades and fan following as reasons for being the one to meet Reigns at WrestleMania.

“Oh, he (Cody Rhodes) was the first one I was going to pick. Cody Rhodes is the guy. I believe that they are probably going to do something at the Royal Rumble. I think he will probably win the Rumble and go on to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. You know, he is not exactly a young guy, and he has won the world title before (outside WWE). But he’d be the right person to do it. I think the fans have gotten behind him, and he’s a big enough star right now to do that.”

Cody Rhodes has accomplished quite a lot in his pro wrestling career. A lot of people rooting for Cody Rhodes to become World Champion ever since his return to WWE from AEW.
