It should be a big night as WWE continues its build toward January 28th’s Royal Rumble event. They have a bit of time to tell those stories, so it will be interesting to see what they do this week.

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown promises an exciting night of action. This is the last SmackDown of the year and will feature the much-anticipated return of John Cena. You can check out the lineup below.

Sheamus vs. Solo Sikoa

Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn vs. John Cena & Kevin Owens

WWE SmackDown Opener:

The opening package for the show airs.

Bray Wyatt’s music plays and he comes out to the ring. He gets on the mic and introduces himself. He says he doesn’t think of himself as a good person. He says when he looks at the horrible things he has done, he doesn’t regret much. However, he wants to apologize for attacking the cameraman.

LA Knight’s music plays and he comes out. He mocks Bray. He says Bray can’t finish a sentence and he takes it out on a cameraman. He accuses Bray of sending his goons in the Uncle Howdy outfit. He says Bray used to be a force but he has only proven to be a fraud.

Knight then says he has the medicine and says The Royal Rumble will be his first and he will make it special. He says he will do that by putting Wyatt out of his misery.

Bray calls him an idiot and says he has been patient this time. He then says Knight is right and he needs to remind everyone how cruel he can be. He accepts the challenge.

Uncle Howdy appears on the screen saying revel in what you are. Uncle Howdy comes out and he walks to the ring. Uncle Howdy hits Bray Wyatt with the Sister Abigail and walks away.

Sami Zayn is walking backstage and he knocks on The Bloodline’s dressing room. Heyman opens the door and they hug each other. He says he wants to discuss strategy for the match.

Heyman says the pledge of loyalty he made against Cena and Owens made Reigns proud. Heyman then says that the whole crowd chanting Zayn with Reigns in the ring is not the right optic. He then sends Zayn inside to meet Reigns.

*Commercial break*

Sheamus vs. Solo Sikoa

Sheamus’ theme song play and he walks out to the ring. Solo Sikoa’ music hit next and he comes out to the ring.

The match starts with a stalemate. Sikoa with a punch to the gut of Sheamus. Sikoa with a clothesline. Sheamus fights back with a couple of strikes. Sikoa sent outside the ring.

Solo goes for a steel chair but The Usos restrain him.

*Commercial break*

Sikoa continues to work on Sheamus. Sikoa hits the Samoan drop. Sheamus fights back with a clothesline. Sheamus with a powerslam. He then goes for Ten Beats of the Bodhran.

Sheamus goes for Brogue kick but is superkicked and he comes back with a knee strike. Cover! 1…2…kick out. Sheamus hits the Irish curse backbreaker and goes for the Texas Cloverleaf. Jey distracts the referee and Jimmy helps Sikoa get to the rope. The two teams brawl and Sheamus dives on them off the top rope.

Sikoa sends Sheamus into the post and hits Urinage on the apron. He then hits the Samoan spike for the win.

Winner: Solo Sikoa

After the match The Uso attack Sheamus. Solo grabs a steel chair and gets in the ring. He places the chair around Sheamus’ face. Drew McIntyre’s theme song plays and he walks to the ring. He attacks The Usos and gets in the ring with Sikoa.

McIntyre sends Solo over the top rope and hits Jimmy with a Claymore. The Bloodline retreat.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez

Raquel Rodriguez’s music plays and she walks out to the ring. Ronda Rousey’s theme song hit next and she comes out to the ring.

Rousey goes for a takedown but is stopped. Raquel with a shoulder tackle and a spinning slam. Cover! 1….2…kick out. Raquel picks up Ronda and throws her into the ring. She throws Ronda across the ring and hits the splash. Raquel sent outside.

*Commercial break*

Ronda continues to work Raquel Rodriguez. Ronda with a big punch to Raquel. She throws Raquel to the mat. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. Rousey goes for the kimura. Raquel picks her up and slams her to the mat.

Raquel with multiple clotheslines. Cover! 1…..2…kick out. She picks up Rousey but is countered into the armbar but Raquel blocks her and turns it into the sharpshooter. Ronda gets out of it and locks in the ankle lock. Rodriguez fights out of it and hits the flapjack.

Raquel goes for the chikara bomb but Ronda stops her and they both fall down. Raquel still manages to hit the chikara bomb on the apron.

*Commercial break*

Raquel with a suplex. Cover! 1…2….ropebreak. Rousey goes to work on the arm with the kimura. Raquel picks her up and hits the fallaway slam. Raquel goes for Chikara bomb but Rousey reverse with a sleeper hold. Raquel drives Rousey into the turnbuckle.

She hits a big boot to Rousey and hits the spinning elbow. Cover! 1….2…Shayna gets her foot on the rope. Raquel picks her up and drives her into the corner. He picks up Ronda but is countered into the armbar as they fall from the top rope and Raquel taps out.

Winner: Ronda Rousey (c)

After the match, Charlotte’s theme song plays and she appears on the entrance ramp. She gets in the ring. Rousey asks about her rehab and how she’s feeling. Charlotte says she challenges Ronda tonight. Rousey accepts her challenge.

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

Charlotte with the big boto. Cover! 1….2…kick out. She kicks Shayna as well. Charlotte goes for the spear but is countered into the armbar but Flair rolls her up for the win.

Winner: Charlotte Flair (c)

The Bloodline are backstage. Zayn says he wants to make sure he is on the same stage and asks if it bothers him the crowd chants his name. Roman says it doesn’t bother him.

Reigns says that no one can pay attention to anything else when Zayn is talking.

*Commercial break*

Hit Row are backstage and The New Day make fun of Top Dolla. All the other stars also join in. Top Dolla shoves Ricochet.

Gunther’s theme song plays first and he comes out to the ring with Imperium.

*Commercial break*

Kaiser gets on the mic and says that 2022 was the year of the Ring General. Vinci says Gunther has proven to be the most dominant Intercontinental Champion in history and no man will take the title away from him. They then play a video package showing all the men who have fallen to Gunther.

Braun Strowman’s music plays and he comes out. He says that he wasn’t in Gunther’s video which means he hasn’t beaten him. Gunther drops the mic and begins to leave but Strowman stops him and they brawl in the ring.

Gunther goes for a chop but is stopped and Strowman hits the clothesline. He hits the shoulder tackle in Kair but is sent into the barricade by Gunther who hits him with a steel chair. They send him into the steel steps and then into the ring. Gunther kicks the arm of Strowman before locking the arm as WWE officials come to stop the assault.

Ricochet comes out to save Strowman with a steel chair.

The Bloodline are shown walking to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Kevin Owens & John Cena vs. Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn

Kevin Owens’ theme song plays and he walks to the ring. John Cena’s music hit and he comes out. The Bloodline’s music plays next and the group walks out to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Sami starts off against Sami Zayn who knocks Owens down with a clothesline. Owens hammering away on Zayn and knocks him down. He then hits the senton. Zayn fights back but is bounced off the top rope.

Zayn tags out to Reigns. Roman with a clothesline on Owens. He then plants Kevin. Cover! 1..2…kick out.

*Commercial break*

Sami slams Owens but he gets up and hits the clothesline as both men are down. Owens goes to tag in Cena but Reigns not allowing the tag to happen.

Sami goes for Helluva kick but Owens with a superkick. He superkicks Zayn again and hits Popup Powerbomb. Cover! 1..2…Reigns makes the save. He drags Zayn to his corner and tags in. He goes for Superman Punch but Owens hits the superkick and he hits the frog splash. Cover! 1..2…kick out.

Owens goes for Popup Powerbomb but Reigns hits the Superman Punch. Reigns goes for the spear but Owens sends him into the post. Both men tag out.

Cena with a couple of shoulder tackles. Reigns goes for the Superman Punch but he is slammed by Cena who tags in Owens and they both hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena hits the AA and Owens with the stunner on Sami for the win.

Winner: Kevin Owens & John Cena
