Tony Schiavone made his pro wrestling debut in 1983 for Jim Crockett Promotions as a member of the broadcast team. Despite taking a few years off from the business, he has had a lengthy career in the industry that continues to this day. That being said, he’s getting “too old for this sh*t.”
Tony Schiavone is now a regular member of the AEW announcing team for AEW Dynamite and the main pay-per-view events. However, he recently stated that “Tuesdays and Wednesdays kind of wear me out” in the most recent What Happened When with Tony Schiavone episode. He then admitted that he’s getting too old for the job.
“I’m actually, to be honest with you, I think I’m really getting too old for this sh*t, I really am. No, I do, I really think I am getting too old for it.”
Due to the exhaustion and travel requirements, Tony Schiavone may be considering his future as an on-screen star, but he has no plans to give up creativity completely. As he said, he will continue doing podcasts and playing video games.
“I think what’s in my future is just maybe podcasting and, I don’t know, playing video games.”
Tony Schiavone’s voice has become an iconic aspect of the wrestling industry, whether it be for WCW, MLW, or the current promotion, AEW. Schiavone is not really well-known by viewers, but he is also well-respected behind the scenes, as evidenced by Tony Khan giving him a promotion and expanding his role such that he is now a member of the company’s talent relations team.
