Rob Gronkowski is a four-time Super Bowl champion and many consider him one of the best football players in the current era of the sport. In fact, Gronkowski is no stranger to WWE as he was involved in a program at WrestleMania a couple of years ago. Now it seems the NFL legend is eyeing a blockbuster match against The Rock in WWE.
Rob Gronkowski made his first-ever WWE appearance during the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33. He helped his friend Mojo Rawley win the match at that time. He then came back for a program at WrestleMania 36 back in 2020.
While speaking to TMZ Sports, Rob Gronkowski revealed that if he ever does decide to transition into a WWE Superstar, he wants to either square off against The Rock or form a tag team with The Great One.
“There would definitely be a tag team match. No doubt about that. I just love that tag team aspect of everything. You know, it’s my first time, so I really wouldn’t want to be on my own doing a one-on-one match. I’ll be able to get help. You know, grow into that role of maybe going doing a one-on-one match after a couple of tag teams.
My tag team partner can help me out with those moves and all that good stuff. But who would it be [against]? I’m getting put on the spot. It’d be pretty cool to have The Rock come back and either face The Rock or have him as my tag team partner.”
WWE also scrapped massive plans for Rob Gronkowski a couple of years ago. Rob Gronkowski eventually retired from the NFL, so a possible WWE return is more than likely in the future, should he want to do it. It is certain that a match against The Rock would certainly be something fans want to see.
