Raquel Rodriguez Earns SmackDown Women’s Title Shot

Raquel Rodriguez quickly rose to the top of the women’s division in Triple H’s version of NXT. The towering Texan made her SmackDown debut in April 2022. Tonight, she earned a title shot on the blue brand.

Tonight’s edition of SmackDown featured a gauntlet match to determine the number one contender for SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. Xia Li and Emma kicked off the action.

Xia Li pinned Emma, eliminated her in the process. Tegan Nox appeared next, but Xia Li eliminated her as well. Raquel Rodriguez entered as the fourth participant. The powerhouse removed Xia Li from the competition.

Liv Morgan joined the action. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion worked Raquel’s injured elbow, but failed to advance to the gauntlet. Sonya Deville entered the match next. She, too, got eliminated.

Ronda Rousey interrupted Raquel’s celebration and told she had one more opponent. Shayna Baszler showed up and stomped her opponent’s injured arm. Raquel, however, picked up the win with a roll-up.

Raquel Rodriguez will square off against Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the December 30, 2022 edition of the blue brand. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more.
