MJF has established himself as one of the most talked-about pro wrestlers in the modern era of the business. MJF is not afraid to get his hands dirty and really get under the skin of fans and peers alike. MJF is also a student of the game and delves deep into the history of pro wrestling. However, that does not mean he necessarily cares about what veterans have to say.
The Devil became the AEW World Champion after defeating Jon Moxley for the title at AEW Full Gear last month. He then took out William Regal on the subsequent episode of AEW Dynamite, thereby establishing his status in the company.
While speaking to Muscle & Fitness, MJF was asked about critics of his craft. The Salt Of The Earth made it clear that he couldn’t care less about what old wrestlers have to say about his work.
I could give a sh*t about the older guys. I wish they would all rot in hell and die already. It’s our time. Screw them, and screw the fans that like them still. I’ve had a phrase and a saying since I entered this business: talent over tenure. I believe in it whole heartedly, and if these old dogs don’t want to believe I’ll put them out of their misery myself. Just come for the champ, and I’ll do it.
MJF successfully defended his AEW World Championship on AEW Dynamite last week and was subsequently chased by Bryan Danielson after the match. He was then called out by Danielson on Dynamite this week. We’ll have to see how AEW will book this highly-anticipated feud on weekly television.
