WWE is all set for a Madison Square Garden comeback next Monday. The company will return to the world’s most famous arena for a house show on December 26, 2022.
Top stars including Kevin Owens and The Usos will work the house show. Drew McIntyre was originally booked to wrestle in the show’s main event, but his injury forced WWE to come up with a different plan.
According to PWInsider, the Scottish Warrior was set to join the babyfaces for a huge eight man tag team match. However, the MSG house show will now be headlined by Kevin Owens, Braun Strowman and The Usos.
WWE sources have confirmed that the reason a change was made to their Madison Square Garden main event on Monday 12/26 for the annual post-Christmas event is that Drew McIntyre will not be cleared to return to the ring by the time the show takes place.
McIntyre had been removed from the ring to heal what was termed “a minor injury” to us several weeks back and will not be able to return until the company’s medical protocol clears him to perform.
Up until earlier today, the expectation had been that McIntyre would return at the Smackdown live events starting Monday 12/26 and he would take part in an eight man tag team bout to headline those SD shows. Instead, the shows will now be headlined by The Usos vs. Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens.
We are told that as of this writing, McIntyre will not be appearing in any form on the live events next week. He last competed for the company at a live event on 11/27 in Portland, Maine.
WWE will be holding a best-of episode of RAW on December 26th as well. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more from the world of pro wrestling.
