Gillberg made his WWE debut in the late 1990s and immediately started to impersonate Goldberg. Gillberg gained a lot of popularity for what he tried to portray – a perfect parody of Goldberg. However, Goldberg never saw it that way as Goldberg made it clear he absolutely hated the gimmick. Many years later, it seems Goldberg still has disdain for the character as he might have squashed Gillberg’s merchandise sales.
Gillberg recently claimed that Goldberg refused to have a match against him numerous times. This came as a disappointment for many fans, who simply wanted to see the two duke it out in the past.
While speaking on the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast, Gillberg talked about his relationship with Goldberg. Gillberg then proceeded to accuse Goldberg of squashing his merchandise sales.
“I loved the Gillberg gimmick. Goldberg has, I can’t say 100 percent, but from the people I know, they say that Goldberg has a thumb on me. I can’t have a doll, I can’t have a shirt, I can’t be on a video game. I can’t do anything at all.”
Gillberg retired back in 2020, and he suffered a heart attack that same year. Thankfully, Gillberg is in much better health, so he can always be appreciative of that. Regardless, it seems Goldberg and Gillberg’s relationship is unlikely to get better anytime soon.
