Unlike it’s MCU counterpart, DCU has experience lackluster box office performance in the past. Even the recent Black Adam movie featuring The Rock dwindled after a strong opening weekend.
In order to improve box office performance, James Gunn and Peter Safran are putting together a new plan for the DCU, which will feature some new obscure characters as well as some mainstays. According to Screenrant, Wonder Woman 3 doesn’t seem to be happening anymore. That isn’t the only project that is getting changed.
Henry Cavill has a cameo appearance in Flash, but the Man of Steel sequel is in doubt. It is also reported that while Aquaman 2 will hit theaters on Christmas Day of 2023. Another movie on the schedule is Shazam! Fury Of The Gods.
It was reported by The Wrap‘s Umberto Gonzalez that The Rock was offered a cameo in the sequel of Shazam, but he refused.
“Rock passed on doing a cameo in Shazam 2 when he was asked,” wrote Ubmerto Gonzalez
The Rock does not seem to be okay with the James Gunn takeover of the DC Universe. He unfollowed both DC and the Black Adam franchise on social media.
While many fans will feel disappointed that they won’t get to see a clash between the two superheroes, they will want The Rock to return to WWE and face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania next year. We will have to wait and see how this plays out, as the road to WrestleMania starts at the Royal Rumble. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we keep you updated on this story as it develops.
