Sasha Banks dominated headlines earlier this year after she walked out in the middle of Raw back in May. This sent shockwaves across the pro wrestling world for a variety of reasons, as a lot of people supported Sasha Banks throughout it all. Her time in WWE is over, which is why fans are excited about her upcoming NJPW appearance. She will also appear for STARDOM, and it seems the company initially turned down her offer.
As previously reported, Sasha Banks is set to attend the Wrestle Kingdom 17 event in Tokyo Dome on January 4th, 2023. This will mark her first appearance for a wrestling promotion in months. It was also reported that Sasha Banks is done with WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, STARDOM had initially rejected Sasha Banks’ deal. This was due to a disagreement over pay between Banks’ side and Rossy Ogawa.
The largest deal we know of was New Japan in the early 90s made a $150,000 per match deal with Hulk Hogan. We haven’t been able to confirm what she will be earning or if it’s more than Jericho, but those close to the situation did confirm it was a huge per-event deal, a number Rossy Ogawa of Stardom, when first approached with it, turned it down thinking it wasn’t cost-effective.
NJPW also wants to bring in Sasha Banks to build up the public perception of STARDOM. WWE also does not consider The Boss as a main event-level star. Regardless, it remains to be seen how successful Banks will be in NJPW.
