Vince McMahon was forced into retirement when a hush money controversy became public, and it drastically altered how the pro wrestling industry viewed him. He is a legendary individual with a very stern opinion of anything. Brian Kendrick recently revealed that Vince McMahon wasn’t a fan of a specific tag team name and explained the reason behind it.

Brian Kendrick and Paul London never had a tag team name other than their last names in WWE. Fans referred to them as The Hooliganz on message boards, their ring gear even had graphics with the Hooliganz name, and WWE Magazine labeled their workout the Hooliganz Workout. That didn’t change how Vince McMahon felt about the name.

Kendrick and London were never referred to by that Hooliganz moniker on WWE television. Kendrick recently appeared in a “Captain’s Corner” live stream on Facebook, where he explained that McMahon wasn’t a fan of the name “Hooliganz.”

“Inevitably when the tag team splits, if you guys are just ‘The Hooliganz,’ we won’t be able to tell which one is which. It’s easy enough though in the sense that we were roughly the same size, moved roughly the same speeds, stuff like that.

He [London] did amazing stuff I never did … You’d be able to tell us apart but in the same way a boy band looks the same, these two dudes look the same.”

The two continued to be a team despite injuries and a teased split in March 2008 that didn’t happen until June 2008, when they were separated in the WWE Supplemental Draft. Kendrick shifted to Smackdown and adopted the nickname The Brian Kendrick, while London remained on WWE RAW until his release five months later.
