Karl Anderson returned to WWE to re-form The O.C. alongside Luke Gallows and AJ Styles on Monday Night RAW. However, he had baggage in the form of his duties with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and that presented a very complicated situation for everyone involved. Fast-forward a couple of months, things have smoothed out between WWE and NJPW. In fact, Anderson recently competed in NJPW, and now it seems the company has confirmed his match for Wrestle Kingdom 17.
The former Bullet Club member was unable to defend his NEVER Openweight Title at NJPW Battle Autumn back on November 5th due to a scheduling conflict with WWE. Thankfully, it was not a big issue for either company.
Karl Anderson recently returned to Japan and competed in the World Tag/Super Junior Tag League finals, where he successfully defended his title against Hikuelo in a solid encounter.
After the match concluded, Anderson cut a promo about how he thought he was the greatest NEVER Openweight Champion of all time and will never drop the title. Following this, Tama Tonga came out to challenge Anderson, leading to a brawl between the two.
In the end, Karl Anderson got the upper hand and laid out Tama Tonga. Anderson then proceeded to confirm Tonga as his opponent at Wrestle Kingdom 17, as he stood tall over Tonga. It remains to be seen if Karl Anderson will end up losing his title at Wrestle Kingdom 17. You may check out the updated card for Wrestle Kingdom 17 below.
