Jeff Jarrett rose to prominence with his charisma, in-ring talent, and love for guitars during his heyday. Jarrett along with being a skilled athlete is also credited for his contributions toward major promotions behind the scenes. Recently, he disclosed more details regarding his AEW duties, calling it a “day job.”
Double J started his wrestling career back in his father Jerry Jarrett’s Continental Wrestling Association in 1986. He spent the next nine years between the top two wrestling giants, WWE and WCW during the 1990s and even founded his own promotion, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, which later became IMPACT Wrestling.
The former WWE Intercontinental champion is currently signed to Tony Khan’s promotion, All Elite Wrestling, as an occasional wrestler and executive position he previously undertook in WWE. Jeff Jarrett discussed that AEW is in for new and exciting things coming in Q1 next year on his “My World” podcast. Tony Khan brought him in to assist with live events, and Double J hopes that announcement is made soon.
“Hopefully we get some announcements out sooner rather than later, but there’s a lot of cool things … The WWE is a 40, 50, 60-year-old company, the lineage goes back three or four generations. AEW, I mean people may or may not take this the right way, but in a lot of ways it’s no longer the embryo, it’s been born, but it’s still in the infant stages. It’s really cool.”
Jeff Jarrett clarified that he would be working backstage for AEW as a Senior Vice President of Live Events. AEW has only produced televised events and pay-per-view shows so far. However, with the addition of Jeff Jarrett in an executive role, AEW could in store for a huge change as stated by him.
