Kota Ibushi is certainly one of the most skilled pro wrestlers to have ever competed inside the squared circle. He was involved in a lot of controversy earlier this year, making fans believe he was done with NJPW. For a while now, rumors have suggested Ibushi might just make his way to AEW to join Kenny Omega. Now it seems that might become a reality as Tony Khan might just end up signing Ibushi.
Kota Ibushi has not wrestled a single match since his loss to Kazuchika Okada in the G1 Climax 31 finals of New Japan Pro Wrestling back in October last year. He suffered a shoulder injury which put him on the shelf. His in-ring return status has been a question since then.
While speaking on the Flagship Wrestling Podcast, Joe Lanza said that Tony Khan would not hesitate to sign the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion once his NJPW contract expires.
It was further reported that Ibushi might join CyberFight, the parent company of DDT and Pro Wrestling NOAH. The contract he was offered is more lucrative compared to his current NJPW contract.
It was previously reported that Kota Ibushi could be joining Kenny Omega in AEW very soon. In fact, Ibushi even hinted at making his way to AEW. Only time will tell whether The Golden Lovers will reunite in Tony Khan’s company, with Ibushi and Kenny Omega reforming their team.
