The New Day surprised fans when they showed up for the go home show for NXT Deadline and challenged the then NXT Tag Team Champions to a title match at Deadline. At Deadline, The New Day emerged victorious and became the second team after FTR to win the RAW, SmackDown, and NXT Tag Team Titles. Although Kofi Kingston made history in the process, Big E was missing.
While Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods celebrated their title win in the ring, one member of the faction was missing, Big E. Kofi Kingston recently addressed Big E’s absence when he spoke to Sports Illustrated.
“Big E wasn’t here, but he was here. He’s always with us. We’re doing a lot of this in his honor. I woke up to a great text from him [Saturday] morning about our match. We’re in constant contact. We miss him, and without Big E, there is no New Day. We want him living a happy, healthy, safe life, and that’s what is paramount to us,” said Kofi Kingston.
Big E has been out of action for several months due to a neck injury. However, Big E is on the road to recovery and it shouldn’t be long before he joins Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods on WWE television. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we keep you updated on this story.
