WWE has seen the crowning of various top prospects at some point in their careers. For any superstar to make it to the top, the goal for them is to become a World champion. While stars like The Rock, John Cena, Bob Backlund, and Hulk Hogan have achieved that milestone, there have been many deserving names who did not win the big one in their careers.
Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts is among the list of some of the greatest WWE Legends to have never won a world championship in their career. Roberts emerged as a popular name during the 1990s in WWE, getting over with the audience as a heel for his charismatic personality and in-ring prowess.
Jake Roberts faced WWE’s poster boy during that period, Hulk Hogan, at a live event in 1992. This was scheduled to translate into a lengthy program for The Snake and a potential run as WWE champion. The WWE legend spoke about the discussed program with Hulk Hogan that could have brought him World championship glory during the latest episode of The Snake Pit show.
“As far as what could have been? A lot of things could have been. Hell, I could have beaten Hogan for the belt. That could have happened. But it didn’t.”
Jake Roberts further stated that he believes that he should have had at least two reigns as the WWE champion for his exploits in the squared circle.
“I think I should have had two (world title runs), but I didn’t. But that’s okay, man.”
Jake Roberts is among the list of legendary superstars like Rowdy Roddy Piper and Razor Ramon to never become a World Champion. Despite not having any title wins in his resume, he emerged to become a top superstar in WWE and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2014.
