NXT has been home to a variety of new talent ever since they started focusing on that aspect back in 2021. This included the debut of Isla Dawn, who immediately made an impact. It seems Shawn Michaels also defended Isla Dawn’s match at NXT Deadline.

Isla Dawn made her NXT debut by costing Alba Fyre the NXT Women’s Championship match against Mandy Rose. She then faced off against Fyre at NXT Deadline in singles competition.
Dawn won in controversial fashion after a referee started vomiting black ooze, which distracted Fyre and cost her the match. Fans did not like the bizarre nature of the finish at all. While speaking during the post-NXT Deadline press conference, Shawn Michaels defended Isla Dawn’s match, stating that NXT Deadline had a little bit of everything for every kind of fan.
She has come over here, had her first live TV match ever last week and then had her first Premium Live Event match ever here. So, we’re joking about ‘Welcome to NXT, pushing in the deep end.’ She did an excellent job against Alba Fyre.
It was a different kind of match, it was a match built on a story and mystique. I guess sometimes I’m just gonna see the wrestling business differently, and I recognize a lot of people believe there’s a ‘real’ version of this job. I’ve been doing it for almost 40 years, so it’s the same all the time. I think it’s okay to have a little bit of everything, and it was very different on the show. I thought those ladies did a great job.
We will have to wait and see what WWE will have planned for Isla Dawn, as it is very evident that the company sees big things for the young female WWE Superstar. If anything, we are certainly seeing big signs of a supernatural storyline in NXT, akin to Papa Shango even, emerging from Isla Dawn.
