Ricky Starks is currently one of the highlights of AEW television, and there is a good reason for that. Starks has worked hard to establish himself as a solid talent, and fans continue to support him all the time. In fact, his latest promo on AEW Dynamite has helped raise his stock. So much so, that even Mark Henry compared his promo to John Cena.
As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Ricky Starks won the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale. Right after that, he and MJF had a scathing promo war, where Starks ended up utterly destroying MJF and then laying him out.
While speaking on the Busted Open Podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry compared Ricky Starks’ promo to John Cena’s promo against Kurt Angle during his Smackdown debut in 2002.
“For example, Kurt Angle’s in the ring and John Cena comes out and he slaps Kurt Angle? He Ruthless-Aggressioned that whole deal. That one moment turned John Cena into somebody people actually cared about.
I felt like last night the same identical thing happened with Ricky Starks! Ricky Starks was able to go in the ring and become a major player in one night.”
Ricky Starks also went off-script during the promo segment. It remains to be seen how Ricky Starks will fare against The Salt Of The Earth at AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming, as Starks will challenge MJF for the AEW World Title. Fans are certainly excited for the match.
