Tony Khan’s acquisition of ROH earlier this year was one of the biggest talking points of the year. Many fans were excited to see what Tony Khan would do with the talented ROH roster. However, since acquiring Ring of Honor, the ROH talent has only appeared on AEW Dynamite and there is no mention of a weekly show yet.
Even the ROH website lists only eight wrestlers on their active roster, and six of those wrestlers are champions. The creative storytelling around the ROH talent was quite similar to the AEW roster. This is because both promotions share the same creative minds.
Tony Khan revealed at the ROH Final Battle media call that there is a lot of crossover between AEW and ROH creative teams and both teams are headed by Tony Khan. Sean Sapp covered the call on Twitter where he reported what TK said.
“There’s a lot of crossover between AEW and ROH creative teams. Tony Khan heads them both up, but there’s some crossover, and a few people that are individual to certain brands,” tweeted Sean Ross Sapp.
While both promotions share the same owner, it may not be such a good idea to use the same creative as it could lead to overlapping storylines. We will have to wait and see if Tony Khan continues with this strategy or if he will hire a separate team for ROH.
