Drew McIntyre became a WWE fan favorite thanks to his hard work and dedication. He was a two-time WWE Champion and carried the company during the pandemic era. Surprisingly, Drew has yet to hold the title in front of the fans, and now he’s taking a little forced break from in-ring action.
Drew McIntyre previously announced that he would not be participating in the scheduled Tag Team Championship match on SmackDown on December 9th. McIntyre revealed on Twitter that he had been medically disqualified from competing and that he will return soon. An update on Drew McIntyre’s injury has now been released.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that McIntyre is injured. He revealed that the information he got is not from a firsthand source. Dave Meltzer, however, confirmed that McIntyre is supposed to return for the Christmas show.
He is injured. I was told an injury, but it’s not from a firsthand source. But he’s supposed to be back for the Christmas show. So it’s only a couple of weeks, I know that.
The nature of the injury is still unknown. During the December 5th edition of Raw, the Usos defended their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against Kevin Owens and Matt Riddle. They will now face Butch, McIntyre’s replacement, for Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, on the December 9th edition of SmackDown. Drew McIntyre also expressed a desire to wrestle in the match as planned, according to Meltzer.
The only thing I know is that he wanted to wrestle and they would not let him wrestle. But it’s not like it’s going to be a long-term thing, at least as it stands right now.
But yes, he was basically medically pulled from Friday’s show and Butch will team with Sheamus against the Usos for the tag team title.
WWE staff recently lauded Drew McIntyre for his dedication to the company. Let’s hope Drew recovers with the speed of light. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Ringside News.
