WWE is set to return to their second-largest market outside the United States for the first time in over five years. It was recently revealed that the global juggernaut will be hosting a live event in India in January 2023. Now, new details have emerged surrounding the mega show in the land of India.
The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre visited India last month on a WWE promotional tour and was involved in shooting for a Bollywood project as well as content for the Indian market. McIntyre was also a part of a sit-down interview with Riju Dasgupta discussing WWE’s next move in the Indian market.
WWE is planning to host a grand live event in the near future, with many sources confirming that the event would be hosted in January. According to a recent report by PWInsider, the live event was confirmed to take place in India on the January 18th. The show will be an exclusive SmackDown brand event.
“WWE will be returning to India for a live event next month, PWInsider.com has confirmed. While the event has not yet been announced, we are told it will be Wednesday 1/18. It is currently slated to be a Smackdown brand event. This would be the first live WWE event in the country since December 2017.”
Drew McIntyre is presumably a lock to perform at the WWE India live event, while the rest of the card remains to be unknown at the moment. It will be interesting to see the type of matches and superstars planned for the event, looking to be revealed in a matter of weeks.
