Vince McMahon shocked the world by announcing his retirement from WWE earlier this year. The news came in the midst of sexual assault allegations. The scandal sent shockwaves throughout the industry and WWE even launched an investigation into this that revealed that Vince McMahon paid hush money to several women.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reports that Stephanie McMahon talked about how WWE is seeing positive momentum with sponsorships after a pause. This went down as WWE Chairwoman & Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and Co-CEO Nick Khan appeared at the Wells Fargo TMT Conference with analyst Steven Cahall on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
Although Triple H took over creative control and steadied the ship, the damage had been done which had affected the promotion’s ability to sell sponsorships. WWE Chairwoman and Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and Co-CEO Nick Khan appeared at the Wells Fargo TMT Conference with analyst Steve Cahall where she revealed that they are once again seeing a positive momentum with sponsorships.
“We’re seeing positive momentum [with sponsors], and again, like I said on the calls, we did have a pause. In addition to the macro headwinds, ya know, of course, there was some change and things that happened in our company this year. And we’re definitely seeing, for next year, what we wanted to see,” Stephanie McMahon said.
It isn’t surprising that sponsors didn’t want to work with a company that was headed by a person embroiled in such a controversy which could be what influenced McMahon’s decision to step down. Stay tuned to Ringside News for similar stories.
