The AEW All Out media scrum ended in utter disaster after CM Punk went full nuclear on Colt Cabana, Hangman Page, and The Young Bucks. Things went awry from the very beginning, and AEW continues to recover from its effects even now. In fact, even Eric Bischoff can’t believe Tony Khan’s actions during the media scrum.
During the media scrum when Punk went off the rails, AEW President Tony Khan was clearly blindsided by CM Punk’s outburst and couldn’t say a single thing to stop him.
Many people felt this was a disrespectful move but they also questioned Tony Khan’s leadership skills afterwards. While speaking with 10 Count, Eric Bischof made it clear that he found Tony Khan’s actions during the media scrum mind-boggling.
“Tony’s not a physical guy. In terms of taking control of the situation… Tony had a mic, he had his own mic, he could have grabbed that mic stood up and said, ‘This conference is over, thank you all very much,’ and shut down the audio, boom, it’s over. Then sort it out.
“But to sit there and be thrashed and slayed like a fish by a guy that you’re writing a check to for five times more money than he’s really worth is mind-boggling to me.”
Punk also shared positive news about his recovery. We will have to wait and see if CM Punk and AEW will be able to mend fences or not. For the time being, Punk’s status in AEW seems dubious.
