Dakota Kai has become one of the brightest talents on WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW. She is currently thriving in top storylines as a member of Damage CTRL with IYO Sky, under the tutelage of Bayley. However, it looks like she might be glad to accept a new moniker, in regards to a match she was a part of this past week.
Dakota Kai signed her official WWE contract in 2016 and debuted under Triple H’s developmental brand, WWE NXT. She rose up to the ranks on becoming a highly talented in-ring performer in NXT. However, her run was cut short following her release in April 2022. However, Kai made her return in August as a part of the Damage CTRL trio at WWE SummerSlam.
The former WWE Women’s tag team champion was recently a part of the War Games match competing alongside Bayley, IYO Sky, Nikki Cross and Rhea Ripley to battle Bianca Belair, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Mia Yim and Becky Lynch. Despite her team losing the bout, Kai delivered a stellar performance at WWE Survivor Series. Dakota Kai spoke about being given the moniker of Ms. War Games on the Getting Over: Wrestling Podcast.
“It’s very grueling. There’s no way you can even prepare for a match like this. I was worried about being in there so long this year because I haven’t been in anything that big since returning back. So, I was like, ‘Oh God, I hope my cardio holds up.’
There’s so many different elements to a match like that, that I love, you know? There’s a lot moving pieces. There’s two rings and a cage and weapons. There are so many things you can play around with and I love that unpredictable element of a WarGames match. And I’ll take the moniker of Ms. WarGames.”
Dakota Kai and IYO Sky are the only two women to be a part of all the four Women’s War Games matches so far. Kai was on the winning side twice in the 2019 and 2020 editions and losing end twice in 2021 and most recently, this past week at WWE Survivor Series: War Games.
Do you think Dakota Kai has earned the moniker of Ms. War Games? Sound off in the comments?
