Triple H has drastically changed the WWE landscape in a short span of time. Ever since he took over the reins as Head of Creative, The Game has brought significant changes such as return of top superstars, better storylines, matches and most importantly pushing top prospects. However, Triple H’s push for The Nightmare Rhea Ripley has drawn comparison to WWE legend Chyna and attracted massive heat from a wrestling veteran.
Rhea Ripley debuted in the WWE as a part of the prestigious Mae Young Classic in 2017. Her dominance and in-ring performances in NXT and NXT UK made her one of the fastest rising stars in the company. Ripley continued the same warpath on her main roster arrival. Recently, she has been seen as an enforcer of the menacing group, The Judgment Day.
The Eradicator has been billed as one of the most imposing athletes on the main roster who can dismantle anyone, be it male or female performer. Many have compared Rhea Ripley’s rise to the Ninth Wonder of the World, Chyna. However, Triple H has been blasted for booking Rhea like his former girlfriend.
Triple H and Chyna were a prominent pair, both off-screen and onscreen, during the Attitude Era. However, the Cerebral Assassin’s started an affair with Stephanie McMahon while still being with Chyna. This led to backstage politics resulting in Chyna’s exit from the company, with Triple H said to have played a major part in it. Wrestling veteran Vince Russo took a major shot at Triple H on Twitter for pushing Rhea Ripley like Chyna under his creative regime.
“I can’t believe the SAME GUY-@TripleH-who OVERSAW every, single thing that Chyna did in the ring, is the SAME GUY booking @RheaRipley_WWE . Blows my Mind.”
Chyna was one of the biggest female superstar during the Attitude Era. She came up alongside Triple H and Shawn Michaels as part of D-Generation X. Chyna even tasted singles success as the only women to win the WWE Intercontinental championship on three different occasions, along with one WWE Women’s title reign. She was later posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2019 as a member of DX.
