FTR debuted for AEW in 2020. Since then, they have gone on to become one of the most popular tag teams on the planet. They base their matches on technique instead of relying on high-flying moves. This has helped them resonate with their fan base even more.
Currently, FTR are the reigning ROH, IWGP, and AAA World Tag Team Champions. Needless to say, they are one of the best tag teams on the planet. This stardom is definitely starting to make them a wanted commodity among the top wrestling promotions. There have been rumors regarding FTR’s contract status in AEW, which has fans speculating about their future.
Dax Harwood recently spoke to Fightful. During the interview, he mentioned that he and Cash Wheeler are evaluating their options for when their contract expires. He also mentioned that they might consider taking a year off wrestling for major wrestling companies.
“Dax Harwood claimed to Fightful that he’s under the belief his current AEW contract ends at the end of April, and they originally actually thought they’d be up last year. However, he says he’s evaluating options and says that he and Cash have had a lot of conversations about their future. One particular idea they’ve mentioned is that they could take a year off of wrestling for major companies and just do things that are fun to them. He said that having the opportunity to work more indies and various companies have led them to find out how much they love that landscape.”
While the future looks bright for the FTR, AEW fans will be disappointed to see their favorite tag team leave. It will also be interesting to see if they will consider returning to WWE under Triple H’s regime.
