Braun Strowman got a lot of heat for his controversial comments about high-fliers and opponents that are far more athletic than him. The Monster Among Men was even called out to his face by Ricochet during a previous episode of WWE SmackDown.

Braun Strowman and Ricochet squared off in one of the two semifinals for the SmackDown World Cup this week. Fans believed Ricochet had no chance going one-on-one against the former Universal Champion. Ricochet impressed with his high-flying moves, but couldn’t faze Strowman until Imperium arrived.

Ricochet took advantage of the distraction by Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci to pin Braun Strowman, earning his spot in the finals against Santos Escobar of Legado Del Fantasma in the process. The shocking loss led to speculations that WWE might have punished Strowman for his insensitive comments on social media.

Imperium ganged up on Strowman once the match was over, but Ricochet arrived in time to make the save for the big man. The two overcame Imperium and finally buried their hatchet (on-screen) as Strowman raised Ricochet’s hand in victory after the save.
