Maria Kanellis joined Tony Khan’s incarnation of ROH along with The Kingdom after leaving Impact Wrestling earlier this year. This move shocked many fans as they were possibly heading to WWE. Now, it appears that this may have been the case.
In a recent interview with Just Alyx, Maria Kanellis revealed that she had talks with Triple H prior to signing with AEW last month. Despite those talks, Maria disclosed that she felt AEW was the place for them.
“We definitely communicated with Triple H as our contracts were coming up with IMPACT Wrestling. And so, like, we did that, you know, that courtesy conversation and it went really well and at the end of the day, I think AEW is the place that we belong,” said Maria Kanelis.
Maria had two runs with WWE with her first run being the longest lasting six years between 2004 and 2010. After plying her trade in the independent circuit, she made her WWE return along with her husband Mike Bennett. However, they were soon released from the company in 2017.
