Toni Storm has rosed to prominence as one of the brightest young talent in AEW. It was the land of Elite that made Toni Storm become a recognized performer in the wrestling industry. Moreover, AEW President and General Manager Tony Khan has nothing but praises for the Australian superstar.

Toni Storm started her career in WWE in 2017 as a part of the Mae Young Classic tournament. She further became a main stay at NXT UK, reigning as the brand’s Women’s Champion. Storm then moved on to NXT for a short stint before being called up to the main roster in July 2021 on SmackDown. However, things did not work as Storm had visualized her run to be and she requested for her release from WWE and was immediately granted in December 2021.

The 27-year old superstar debuted in AEW in March 2022 and became heavily featured in high-profile matches against the likes of Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa. Her crowning moment came when she defeated defeated Baker, Jamie Hayter, and Hikaru Shida in a four-way match to become the interim AEW Women’s World Champion.

Tony Khan himself has been impressed by Toni Storm’s work so far. He believes that the former Women’s champion has been fantastic in such a short span of time and addressed to her as “one of the best free agents we’ve ever signed.” Khan spoke about this on AEW Unrestricted, days before AEW Full Gear.

“Toni Storm is just fantastic and this year, I think [she] has been one of the MVPs in all of AEW, and certainly on ‘AEW Dynamite. One of the most consistent wrestlers we’ve seen time in, time out, including this week, and Toni Storm always delivers.”

Toni Storm recently lost the AEW Women’s World championship to her former friend turned foe Jamie Hayter. The duo were former roommates and best friends during their stay in England. Hayter aligned herself with Dr Britt Baker D.M.D and Rebel, who was also involved in key moments of her match with Toni Storm at Full Gear.
