Kevin Nash is one of the most agile big men to ever wrestle inside a WWE ring. He was deceptively quick for his size. This made for some classic WWE matchups. While many people were keen on seeing him display his athleticism, he was banned from using one maneuver by his best friend.
Speaking on the Games With Names podcast, Shawn Michaels explained how he used to get Kevin Nash to leapfrog over his opponents. However, after coming to the realization that a guy as big as Nash shouldn’t be avoiding contact, he banned Kevin Nash from using the move.
“We used to bust each other’s balls over all sorts of stuff. You know, Kevin Nash, big ol’ huge guy, and I thought it was cool that he could leapfrog. To watch this big dude leapfrog, and I had him do it in a couple of matches. One time, we’re driving down the road, Scott Hall’s in the backseat, and he’s like, ‘Hey, let me ask you a question.’ Kevin and I are up front, and we’re like, ‘Alright, what is it?’ ‘How come the biggest guy in the company avoids contact?’ And we sat there, and we thought about it, and I was like, ‘Man, you’re right. Kevin, don’t ever leapfrog again.’”
It’s great to see that in a business filled with huge egos, Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash were able to be honest and listen to each other. To this day, Nash and Michaels give their opinions of the wrestling business to this day. Such is the extent of their friendship.
