WrestleMania is one of the world’s largest entertainment events. It reaches more than one billion homes in 57 countries annually. WrestleMania is likely heading to Nashville, provided a proposed stadium is built in the next five years.
Mike Organ at The Tennessean reports that Butch Spyridon, CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp., met with WWE about holding WrestleMania in Nashville. Things heated up after Mayor John Cooper and the Tennessee Titans produced a draft for the Nashville’s new potential stadium. The CEO talked about having a wonderful experience when WWE hosted it’s 2nd biggest event, SummerSlam, in Nashville last year.
“WWE had an incredible experience at Nissan Stadium this past summer, and we started talking. WrestleMania is considered the No. 6 top sports event brand in the world, and we are grateful for their confidence and belief in Nashville.”
Spyridon went on to praise the massive reach of WrestleMania. He compared it to Nashville’s biggest 4-day country festival CMA fest and said that WrestleMania is 2-3 times greater in terms of impact.
“WrestleMania is the number 1 most followed sports brand on social media platforms and described WrestleMania as “CMA Fest on steroids: equivalent to two-to-three CMA Fests in one week in terms of impact.”
WWE released this statement confirming its intention to come to Nashville provided the proposed stadium is built. This is undoubtedly an exciting announcement for fans around that region.
“Nashville has exploded as a cultural center in the United States and as the land of opportunity. WWE looks forward to hosting many events in partnership with the great city of Nashville at the proposed enclosed stadium.”
The 2023 host will be SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and 2024 will be Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Sites beyond 2024 have not been announced. Only time will tell where WWE takes the grandest stage of them all next.
