Saraya was forced to retire from in-ring competition in 2017 and after that, she kept herself busy in a variety of roles in WWE. Now she is part of the AEW Stronghold, but it wasn’t smooth sailing from day one. In fact, Tony Khan refused to let Saraya wrestle until she was a 100% ready.

At AEW Full Gear, Saraya squared off against Britt Baker in her first match in over 5 years. Naturally, there was a lot of ring rust for her but in the end, Saraya stood tall in her in-ring AEW debut.
While speaking during the post AEW Full Gear press conference, Saraya talked about her triumphant comeback to pro wrestling. Saraya revealed that Tony Khan refused to let her wrestle until she was 100% ready.
“I feel fantastic and the wonderful thing, I mean Tony takes care of us, like he said, ‘I’m not going to let you get back in the ring until you’re 100% ready to go.’ I was like, ‘I promise you, I got this, I promise you.’ I did MRIs and X-Rays and my neck was 100% ready to go.
I didn’t realize it would be 100%, but you know we got there. The thing is with Tony too, he’s very understanding when it comes to injuries too. He said, ‘I wanna take it slow coming back, I don’t want to rush back in like I did the last time.’ So, I’m really appreciative of him, and I’m happy that I got to do this in AEW too. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time. I thought it was really cool that I got to do this today.”
We will have to wait and see how Saraya will be booked in the coming weeks, now that she has won her first match in over 5 year. Fans are certainly excited for her future in the company.
