Tony Khan shared a few insights as to why they suddenly dropped the trademark during the Full Gear media scrum. Tony said that getting approval to use “Carry On Wayward” son was actually a nice process, and they might just use that song again in the future.

“We never talked about changing the name. It wasn’t gonna be a re-brand. It wasn’t gonna be a Generation Me sort of thing. I was a big fan of the Young Bucks when they were Generation Me. I think it’s good when people come into AEW and keep their name for the most part.

As for the Wayward Sons, I don’t know about the trademark, but the song was a great idea. They asked me about licensing it, and you know, it’s similar to trades in sports where it takes two willing parties where sometimes you feel good about a deal, and other times you feel like you got dragged — this was not one of those deals, they were very nice.

Really, Kansas and everyone we asked about it was really nice about using it. I’m really excited about the best of 7 series and the matches going forward, and after the controversial finish of the match tonight, I thought it was best to find out who’s the best. I am very open to using [the song] again, and they were very cool with us using it tonight, so I think there’s a very good chance we’ll use it again.”

Tonight marked the first time the Elite have been back on AEW television since their brawl with CM Punk following All Out 2022, when the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega became the first Trios World Champions. Omega and the Bucks approached Punk and Ace Steel in their locker room after Punk’s inflammatory press scrum remarks on AEW’s Executive Vice Presidents, along with Colt Cabana and “Hangman” Adam Page.

The parties involved in a fight were given indefinite AEW suspensions as a result of the altercation. Let’s see what happens after Ace Steel was fired and CM Punk’s contract could be in the process of getting bought out. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Ringside News.
