Jeff Hardy was arrested for a couple of misdemeanor counts and for driving while under influence of alcohol/drugs earlier in June. This was the third time within the past 10 years that Jeff Hardy was arrested for a DUI. Yesterday’s pre-trial hearing for Hardy’s DUI-related charges in Florida did not go as planned.
Hardy’s defense requested a postponement, and the pre-trial hearing was set for Wednesday, December 21st. According to PW Insider, Hardy is obligated to show up in court for the hearing because of harassment. On June 28th, Hardy submitted a written declaration of innocence to the court.
Hardy’s scheduled pre-trial hearing for his DUI related charges in Florida yesterday did not take place as scheduled. His defense filed for a continuance, with the pre-trial hearing now scheduled for Wednesday, 12/21.
Based on court records, Hardy is required to appear before the court for the hearing. Hardy filed a written plea of not guilty filed with the court on 6/28.
In order to aid in their client’s case, Hardy’s lawyers asked that a hearing that was initially scheduled for this past July be postponed by 60 days. It would appear that the two sides are negotiating a plea deal that would avert a trial after Hardy’s scheduled hearing in October of last year was again postponed.
Jeff Hardy was arrested back on June 13th and charged with second-degree misdemeanor Driving While License Canceled/Suspended/Revoked, second-degree misdemeanor Violation of Restrictions Placed on Driver’s License, and third-degree felony DUI Alcohol/Drugs Third Offense within 10 Years.
If convicted, Jeff Hardy could be asked to serve 5 years in prison. Things simply do not look good for Jeff Hardy right now, but we will continue to monitor this situation and keep you updated on it.
