Chris Jericho is a veteran in the pro wrestling business, and he is universally loved and respected for a good reason. He is also opinionated and simply wants the best for the industry. That is why Jericho also cares about a pro wrestlers’ union, and he is baffled there isn’t anything like that yet.

A union in professional wrestling has been a controversial topic for many years. The likes of Andrew Yang even tried to get wrestlers to unionize. Hulk Hogan also squashed that idea years ago when Jesse Ventura tried to bring it up within WWE.

While speaking with Howie Mandell, Chris Jericho talked about the lack of unions in pro wrestling. Jericho made it clear that he thinks it’s crazy there isn’t one.

There’s no unions for wrestling, which is kind of crazy because we’re on TV,” Jericho said. “It’s not [the Screen Actors Guild]. … And that would be the only way it could ever be unionized, is if SAG stepped in to do it. Wrestling started as kind of a carny type of a sport in the 30s,” Jericho stated. “I just think it’s one of those things that has never caught up, for whatever reason.a

A union would be good in some ways, I’m sure. And probably hinder you in other ways, which is why probably they don’t want to get into it.”

We will have to wait and see whether pro wrestling will ever end up getting a union or not. Chris Jericho would certainly be glad if it did happen. It seems that the subject has died down a bit following WWE’s big 3rd party contracts controversy, but you never know when the subject could come up again.
