MJF took on the role of an antihero in AEW, one with a very interesting contract situation. The Salt of the Earth will face Jon Moxley in the AEW World Championship match that will serve as the main event of the Full Gear pay-per-view. MJF recently revealed that he hasn’t signed a contract extension with AEW, despite previous reports that might have been the case.
MJF maintained that his contract expires on January 1st, 2024, while speaking with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post. He emphasized his dissatisfaction with his AEW contract, both publicly and in private. MJF believes that he should be paid more than what was mentioned in the original agreement.
MJF’s contract expiration date became his new favorite talking point for the majority of 2022. After Double Or Nothing, when he asked that AEW President Tony Khan release him, he brought this up on television before going dark for several months until re-appearing in All Out.
MJF said that his pay has increased significantly since his comeback two months ago, but he hasn’t signed a new contract to replace his current one.
I know the truth. I most certainly haven’t. I think that wrestling fans are kind of just doing that to kid themselves. So maybe they feel a little less heartbroken as things are going on. Now I’ll tell you this, bonus and brownie points from Tony Khan for paying me what he’s paying me now with no extension. He did not have to do that.
The top AEW star claimed in September that he was now earning “a stupid, absurd amount of money” with AEW, but he did not capture that bag by signing a contract extension. It was later revealed that MJF earns more than $1 million annually. Stay tuned to Ringside News for the latest news and updates.
