The AEW All Out media scrum made headlines for all the wrong reasons after CM Punk went on a venomous rant on Colt Cabana, Hangman Page, and The Young Bucks. CM Punk became public enemy #1 immediately after that and even now, both parties seem to have a lot of issues.
Everyone involved in the brawl after the All Out media scrum was suspended, except Ace Steel, who was fired. The Elite will be returning to AEW television soon, but CM Punk’s status in AEW remains uncertain even now.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Steve Austin preparing for his in-ring return and linked it to Punk being his opponent. Meltzer added that it may not be possible, because AEW may not release CM Punk from his contract due to a lot of issues.
“If you’re looking for the match that’s going to shake up the business, the Punk match is the one, but I don’t know that Punk will have a release (from AEW) – there’s just a lot of issues there.”
CM Punk was also blasted for being fragile and having no value. Of couse, a CM Punk return to WWE would also mean that they need to repair a fractured relationship that was left after his last run with the company. We will have to wait and see whether CM Punk will end up returning to AEW somewhere down the line or not.
