Maria Kanellis’ first stint in WWE featured her pairing up with Santino Marella for a while, until she eventually joined a program with other stars such as John Cena. She and her husband Mike Bennett were released by WWE a couple of years ago as part of the budget cuts. She was a diva in WWE and believes the Diva’s generation is still relevant in WWE.
Maria Kanellis came back to WWE in 2017 alongside her husband. However, their run in WWE was largely uninspired, and they were released due to budget cuts. Naturally, she has a lot of opinions about the matter.
While speaking to Steve Fall on Ten Count, Kanellis stated that she believes the Diva’s generation is still relevant in WWE even now.
Divas have done a lot. We really set the stage for everything moving forward. So whether people want to respect that or not, that’s up to them. I mean at the end of the day, the facts are the facts. The facts are Beth is still relevant, Maryse is still relevant, Mickie is still relevant and I am still doing my thing… We’re still part of this industry and we are still part of this generation. So, love us or hate us, but you’ve got to respect us.
Maria Kanellis is currently working in AEW alongside her husband. We will have to wait and see how they will be booked in the coming weeks. She will always be proud of her time in WWE, because she accomplished a lot. That doesn’t mean Maria Kanellis is 100% happy about how every little detail went down.
